Keeping First Aid Training Current – What We’ve Been Working On
You may have noticed that it’s been a little while since our last blog post. However, that certainly doesn’t mean things have been quiet at JPF First Aid!
Over recent months, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes. This ensures our first aid training courses remain up to date, reflecting the latest national guidance and best practices.
At JPF First Aid, we believe that delivering accurate, high-quality training must always come first.
Why Have We Been So Busy?
Resuscitation Council UK published its updated 2025 Resuscitation Guidelines in October 2025. It will implement the changes in first aid training from 2 March 2026.
These developments have required careful consideration, preparation and updates to our training materials to ensure learners receive information that reflects the latest guidance.
For us, this has involved reviewing course content, adapting training resources and incorporating updated procedures into the practical elements of our courses.
Although much of this work takes place behind the scenes, it is an essential part of maintaining the standards our customers have come to expect.
What has changed in first aid training?
The latest guidance has introduced or reinforced several important areas, including:
- Primary Survey: Updates to the structured approach used when assessing a casualty, including the introduction of DR C ABCDE.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Updated guidance relating to resuscitation techniques, including the recommended approach to infant chest compressions.
- Life-Threatening Bleeding: Greater emphasis on recognising and managing catastrophic bleeding as part of the initial assessment of a casualty.
- Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs): Reinforcing the importance of early defibrillation and following the AED’s instructions.
- First Aider Wellbeing: Recognising the potential emotional impact of responding to an emergency and the importance of appropriate support.
These are just some of the areas that have required attention.
Importantly, updating our courses isn’t simply about changing a presentation or replacing a few pages in a training manual. It involves ensuring that the information delivered, practical demonstrations and assessments remain consistent with relevant qualification requirements and national guidance.

Why Keeping Our Training Current Matters
First aid continues to evolve as research, evidence and understanding develop.
Techniques that were previously recommended may be refined or replaced as new evidence becomes available.
This is why we believe first aid training should never be treated as a case of simply delivering the same course year after year without reviewing its content.
Whether we’re training employees in a workplace, supporting staff in schools and nurseries, or teaching young people essential lifesaving skills, our responsibility is to ensure the training we provide is relevant, accurate and effective.
When someone faces a real emergency, the knowledge and confidence gained through their training could make a life-changing difference.
That’s a responsibility we take seriously.
Continuing to Deliver Training Throughout the Changes
While we’ve been reviewing and updating our courses, JPF First Aid has continued delivering first aid training to businesses, schools, organisations and individuals.
Our commitment to providing engaging, practical and supportive learning experiences has remained unchanged.
We’ve also continued investing time in developing our training resources and ensuring that our courses reflect the needs of the people and organisations we support.
It’s been a particularly busy period, but one that we believe has been incredibly worthwhile.
Looking Ahead – More News and Updates
Now that we’ve dedicated considerable time to implementing these important changes, we’re looking forward to sharing more regular updates through our blog.
Over the coming months, we’ll be covering a variety of topics, including first aid guidance, workplace responsibilities, paediatric first aid, mental health awareness and practical advice that could help save lives.
We’ll also continue sharing news and developments from JPF First Aid.
